LoveBlock Tournament

On Friday night  the 10th November, 20 of us took part in the national LoveBlock tournament. Sally Shaw and Christine Wood took out the top mixed grade and came 5th out of 890 which is an amazing result. It follows Sue Gordon and Gerda Corporaal winning the top junior prize last year and coming third overall out of 846 pairs. We hope more of you will join us next year.

Hosting Kawerau & Opotiki

Next Monday the Opotiki and Kawerau clubs have been invited to play at our club. This returns their hosting of our club earlier this year and those of you who attended one/both of these evenings are aware of what a high standard they set with the beautiful suppers provided.

Please join us for a fun night with our bridge neighbours and bring along a contribution for supper. 🍰

Competition results

Congratulations to :

  • Derek Moores and Eric Burnie along with their partners who performed exceptionally well in the NZ Intermediate Teams’ competition at Congress and placed third.
  • Bobbi and Ian Drysdale who won the Bay Pairs-outstanding result!

AGM

Our AGM is on Sunday 17 September at 2pm-notice attached. On the whiteboard is a list of nominations for positions on the committee. Some of our committee members have been on for a number of years and are standing down so we need some fresh faces on the committee; this involves one meeting a month after play on the 2nd Friday of the month. We would love you to join us

Kawerau Shared Session

Next Tuesday 5 September we have been invited for our annual visit to play at the Kawerau Bridge Club. They put on a wonderful supper and are great hosts. There is a list on the whiteboard for those wanting to go to Kawerau-this helps with carpooling too. Kawerau needs to know numbers by next Monday so they can deal the boards. Play is at Mountain View Rest Home 192 River Road, Kawerau. Play begins at 7 so we’ll need to get away soon after 6 in order to be seated at 6.45 pm.
